The Tao of Porn

I had fun building this website and it taught me many things but I ultimately realized this project didn’t have a sufficiently high level of integrity.

Building this site was part of my own struggle to understand my own sexuality and desires, as well as the role that pornography played in my life. The project served its purpose, and I now see that job is finished, at least for me personally.

Many of us struggle with the desire to watch porn. Our society bombards us with sizzle but denies us the steak.

Pornography is a world where all our desires are permitted and immediately gratified. But we are never satisfied.

That fantasy land of sexual pleasure is always on the other side of the computer monitor. On this side of the screen we struggle with our inhibitions, doubts and imperfections.

Porn offers us the opportunity to indulge in all of our unrealized fantasies, but ultimately we end up living life vicariously. Who really wants to spend their entire life masturbating in front of a computer?

It is not my intention to moralize. Porn is neither Good nor Evil. Porn is just naked people doing what naked people do.

Sex is one of humanity’s most powerful drives (if not the most powerful). Our sex drive motivates mankind towards some of its most supreme creative accomplishments.

It’s a shame to watch all that power dribble away into a kleenex tissue.

I’m also not telling you to stop watching porn. Fighting your impulses only makes them stronger and creates an endless cycle of guilt and self-blame.

What I do suggest is that you learn to accept yourself completely, with all your natural urges, and use your porn habit as a springboard for critical self-examination and personal growth.
